Urgent/same day  GP Appointments

If you need an urgent /same day appointment with a doctor, please contact the surgery between 8:00am - 10:30am and you will be offered our urgent telephone call back service.  The receptionist will take your name, telephone number and a brief description of the problem and then will pass this onto the doctor. The doctor will call you back with advice and offer you an appointment if necessary. Please be aware that you may be asked to come to the surgery later in the morning.

Why does the receptionist need to ask the nature of my problem ?

The reception team are members of the practice team and it has been agreed that they will ask patients 'why they need to be seen'. Reception staff are trained to ask questions in order that you receive :

-the most appropriate medical care

-from the most appropriate health professional

-at the most appropriate time

The information that the receptionists pass on to the doctors allows the doctors to prioritise the calls and ensure that all patients receive the appropriate level of care.

Practice Nurses

The practice nurses offer a range of services including: new patient, well person, elderly, asthma and diabetic check ups; immunisations; travel health arrangements; cervical smears; routine dressings, suture removal and injections; ear syringing and ear piercing.

You may see a practice nurse by appointment at the following times:

  • Monday – Friday mornings 09:00 – 12:00
  • Monday – Wednesday afternoons 13:30 – 18:00
  • Thursday afternoons 13:30 – 16:30
  • Friday afternoons 14:00 – 17:00

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.

Chaperone

If you feel that you want a chaperone please speak to the receptionist at the time of booking your  appointment. This is so that arrangements can be made and your appointment is not delayed in any way. The Clinical team may also require a chaperone to be present for certain consultations.

EXTENDED GP EVENING AND WEEKEND OPENING HOURS

As a Rushcliffe patient you can now access routine appointments in the evenings and at weekends. These appointments are best suited for things that will not need ongoing review by your usual practice.

You can book through your surgery during opening hours for appointments between 6.30pm and 8pm in the evening on weekdays and between 8.30am and 12.30pm at weekends.  If you request one of these appointments, which are outside of usual working hours you will be offered a slot with a Rushcliffe GP, Nurse or Healthcare Assistant at one of three locations across the borough. The location will depend on the day of your appointment.

The additional evening and weekend appointments will be available at:

  • East Bridgford Medical Centre

  • Castle Healthcare Practice in West Bridgford

  • Keyworth Medical Practice

As you may not be seeing your usual GP, you will need to give consent for the GP you are seeing to have access to your medical records and to send information about your consultation back to your usual GP.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL EXTENDED HOURS APPOINTMENTS ARE PREBOOKABLE ONLY BY CONTACTING YOUR OWN GP PRACTICE.

THERE IS NO WALK IN SERVICE OFFERED. IF YOU REQUIRE URGENT ASSISTANCE BEFORE 8AM OR AFTER 6.30PM, PLEASE CALL 111.
